Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
Forever Island, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates charles.vi (the “Site”). The purpose of the Site is to inform visitors about the business activities of our principal Charles W. Hamilton (“Subject Matter”); however, no services whatsoever are provided or offered or advertised via the Site. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at privacy@charles.vi.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address, and your first and last name if you provide them, solely for the purpose of delivering email updates regarding the Subject Matter. The Site does not collect any other information from you. Nothing shared on the Site constitutes attorney advertising or a forward-looking statement, as those terms are understood under all applicable laws.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the page that referred you, which pages you viewed, and how long you stayed. Our website host, Squarespace, collects this to keep the Site secure and to provide us with aggregate traffic statistics.
Cookies. Our Site stores small files called cookies on your device. Some are necessary for the Site to function, and some support the traffic statistics described above. Squarespace publishes a current list of the cookies it sets at https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001264507. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the Site may not work correctly if you do.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use the information above only to:
Send you our newsletter, if you asked to receive it
Reply to messages you send us
Keep the Site secure and understand which content visitors find useful
Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not send you promotional email unrelated to the newsletter you signed up for.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with service providers who help us operate the Site and our newsletter, and only to the extent they need it to do that work:
Squarespace — website hosting, form submission storage, and analytics. See Squarespace's privacy policy at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy.
Squarespace Email Campaigns — stores our subscriber list and delivers the newsletter. See Squarespace’s privacy policy at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, subpoena, or other valid legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others. If our business is sold or merged, subscriber information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will update this policy if that happens.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address on our newsletter list until you unsubscribe, after which we remove it from our active list.
Your choices and rights
Unsubscribing. Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can use it at any time, for any reason, without telling us why.
Access, correction, and deletion. Email us at privacy@charles.vi and we will tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently or withhold anything from you for making a request.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information a business collects about them, to correct or delete it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, to limit use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by that law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not collect sensitive personal information. To exercise any right, email us at privacy@charles.vi.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. Our Site honors Do Not Track signals by disabling analytics cookies.
Children
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, including relying on hosting and email providers that maintain industry-standard security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top. If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will notify subscribers by email or by a notice on the Site before it takes effect.
